The reason for this is because Becky has been asked to join a new team working with The Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF) which will be pioneering new ways for churches to support families as they spiritually parent their children.  She will be part of a small team headed up by Rachel Turner, whom some of you will know from our Building Families, Building Faith conference, or from the Parenting for Faith course.  There is more information about this on the BRF website - https://www.brf.org.uk/parentingforfaith.  This is a wonderful opportunity for Becky to use her experience here of working with families in a new way and the PCC are pleased that they are able to release her into this new role, with its aim of resourcing parents all over the nation – as well of course, parents here at St James’.

Becky’s new working pattern will obviously mean changes for us here at St James’.   The plan is that Becky continues her work in schools and with Rollercoasters and Impact.  Her other responsibilities will be overseen in the interim by Keith, while the PCC and the church discerns God’s vision for our next steps as a church.   In time, the PCC expects to appoint a new member of staff, but this will not be immediately.  The landscape of working with children, young people and families has changed considerably since Becky was appointed in 2008, meaning that we may not appoint another person in that exact role, and we need to take the time required to get that right.

Under Becky’s leadership we have developed a great team of volunteers working in all areas of children, youth and families work, and Keith and Becky will be meeting with them soon to answer any questions they might have as well as talk about the next steps for our work.  We are confident that the various groups and activities will continue and flourish in the interim period.

During the recent vacancy Becky provided invaluable support to the ordained staff and they are hugely thankful and indebted to her. Becky is an inspirational and deeply faithful person and I have been blessed by her welcome, encouragement, support and insight. I am really chuffed for Becky; the work she’ll be doing for BRF has the potential to achieve far-reaching good Godly stuff, and I pray that God continues to bless her ministry both with BRF and here at St James’.
