If you have questions about Christianity or are a new Christian, we would love to invite you to join the next Alpha course.

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life. The Alpha course consists of a series of talks, looking at topics such as 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?', with the option of a day away. We meet for supper and each talk is followed by discussion in small groups.

This years Alpha Course will start with a ”taster” session in September.

A Typical Alpha Evening at St James'

7:30pm Supper
Arrive at the Alpha course venue. An informal supper is served, and you eat with the other guests on the course.
8.00pm Talk
A talk on the topic for the evening, such as 'Who is Jesus?', and 'Why and how do I pray?'
8.30pm Coffee and biscuits
8.45pm Small Groups
You break up into your small groups for a relaxed and informal discussion time. The small group consists of around 12 people, including one or two 'leaders' who will host the group and lead the discussions. This is a time when you can ask any questions that you may have and discuss the talk.
9.30pm End
The evening will end no later than 9.30pm.
